About Markus Schwemberger
Markus hails from Austria and has worked at an Executive Chef invarious countries internationally. He fell in love with South Africa in 1996 and has worked at the Devon Valley Hotel for fourteen years, initially holding the position of Executive Chef, and for the past year, the General Manager.
About Devon Valley Hotel
The original timber-framed building, constructed from Canadian Cedarwood, was built in 1947 and initially known as the Cedarwood Hotel before being renamed to The Devon Valley Hotel in the early 1960’s. Since transferring ownership to the Louis Group in 2003, the hotel and estate have both undergone significant revamping and rejuvenation.
There are 50 stylishly furnished rooms in the hotel which offer the most spectacular views across the vineyards and olive groves, with the Helderberg Mountain range in the background. The Devon Valley Hotel is arguably one of the most ideal settings for special celebrations, romantic getaways, family holidays, or productive winelands conferences.
The Restaurants, Lounge and Bar
Superb a la carte menu options and al fresco dining on the Vineyard Terrace, and especially for Sunday Lunch, Flavours is one of the most popular buffet restaurants in Stellenbosch. Enjoy the SylvanVale wines, a drink or a meal while sitting on the hotel terrace that overlooks the vineyards.
