ABOUT THE WINELANDS welcomes Zunia Boucher-Myers, Co-Owner and Chef at the Avontuur Estate Restaurant in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Owner chefs Melanie Paltoglou and Zunia share their passion for food alongside their passion for people, cooking from the heart on the magnificent Avontuur wine estate and stud farm – 18 years of ‘good looking cooking’.

About Avontuur Estate Restaurant

The restaurant is located on the Avontuur Estate which nestles against the Helderberg between Stellenbosch and Somerset West. The home of Fine Wines and Fast Horses… and Fabulous Food. The terrace of the restaurant has spectacular views of the paddocks, vines and Table Mountain which makes it very popular in summer. For those cold winter days, guests keep cozy with underfloor heating and by the fire. Unhurried meals in the company of good friends without compromising service.

 

The philosophy at Avontuur Estate Restaurant is simple: Everyone who walks through our doors is either already a friend, or soon will be. By embracing that theory, owners, Melanie Paltoglou and Zunia Boucher-Myers know that every guest will have exceptional service, outstanding food and will regard the restaurant as a ‘home away from home.’

Zunia and Melanie source local and where possible, organic fare, supporting local producers in the community. As value for money is vitally important when dining out, you will find generous portions, food bursting with flavour. Each dish is presented beautifully and with care with focus on a well-known adage among chefs “You eat with your eyes first.” You can expect an la Carte menu, Champagne breakfasts and Contemporary country cuisine. We are part of people’s history. It is an honour to be part of people’s lives, be it a wedding, birthday party or a simple Sunday lunch. In the more than ten years that we have been at Avontuur we have had weddings, christenings, big and small celebrations of every kind, and we have made so many friends along the way. We never take our role for granted and consider ourselves to be blessed to be on this magnificent estate. To us every day is an Adventure!’

 

The estate restaurant is the perfect corporate and function venue, specialising in small, intimate occasions. Team Building functions can be arranged and are highly individual occasions and always a lot of fun.
