About Gerhard van der Watt
Gerhard is an experienced Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the wine and spirits industry. He has a CA SA focused in Finance, Tax, Accounting and Auditing from South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. Gerhard has led the Perdeberg management team for over 12 years and prior to joining Perdeberg Wines in 2008, he worked for Distell in the USA and UK.

Perdeberg Wines, nestled in the shadows of the Paardeberg Mountain in Paarl, adopted its name from scores of Mountain Zebra that once roamed its foothills, mistaken for wild horses by the Dutch.
Established in 1941, our wines are rooted in a tradition of producing award winning wines grown in various micro climates in the area. The superior quality of Dry land vineyards and our innovative winemaking techniques combine to produce premium wines of world class quality.

Perdeberg Vineyards
The majority of the Perdeberg vines are Dry Land vineyards which are unirrigated and produce exceptional quality grapes that are smaller and packed with flavour.
Award Winning Wines
Perdeberg Cellar has been producing wines of excellence since 1941 and they have accumulated more than 200 national and international awards over the past five years.
In the early 1940s, wine farmers in the Perdeberg region grew dissatisfied with the low prices they were getting for their premium quality grapes. Then an astute farmer named Jan Rossouw suggested they begin producing their own wine and Perdeberg Cellar was born! We pressed our first grapes manually in 1942 and while we have come a long way in terms of technology, we are still renowned for our hands-on approach!

There are a number of wine ranges offered by Perdeberg:
- Soft Smooth Range – An easy-drinking and fruit-driven wine style for the aspiring wine drinker.
- The Classic Collection – Wines are made in an elegant, but fruity new world style.
- The Dry Land Collection – Wines are made from grapes of Dryland Vineyards, which showcase the uniqueness of the wines grown in this testing terroir.
- Iconic Wines – The Rex Equus and Endura wines are made to reflect the true character of the varietals and showcase the diversity and uniqueness of the terroir.
- Quagga Craft Beer – Fermented in small batches by our expert brewmaster, Ampie, each craft beer is a work of art with rich aromas on the nose and crisp finish.
