About Wine Games
Wine tastings are boring. Pub quizzes aren’t. So we thought, why not combine the best of both? In reality we soon found out we weren’t the first to conjure up this glorious concept. But at least it proved that it was sound.
Six to eight wines. Divided into flights of two. Questions preceded by a little inside info to help you navigate your way through the intricacies of foreign lingo, terroir and tinkle bits. One knowledgeable sommelier of questionable habits to chart a course through the murky waters of partially digested grape juice accompanied by a small rabble of devout followers. Battling it out for the honour of top wino!
Egos were tested, nostrils flared, pinkies were raised in defiance; and one man got a headache! It was even told that someone had learnt something.
And thus, after a long and successful run of “Game of Wine Cape Town”, sommelier missionaries Joakim Hansi Blackadder and Barry Scholfield decided to charter a course deeper into the unknown.
