County Fermanagh (/fərˈmænə/ fər-MAN-ə; from Irish: Fir Manach or Fear Manach, meaning ‘men of Manach’) is one of the thirty-two counties of Ireland, one of the six counties of Northern Ireland and one of the nine counties of Ulster. The county covers an area of 1,691 km2 (653 sq mi) and has a population of 61,805 as of 2011.[5] Enniskillen is the county town and largest in both size and population.

A nice way to stretch your legs on a warm, sunny day. 2 hours from Dublin the stairway to heaven is situated in The Cuilcagh Mountains and is just across from the marble arch caves.
Marble Arch Caves
The Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark contains some of the finest landscapes in the north of Ireland. Ranging from rugged uplands, lakes and forests through to gently rolling drumlins, the landscapes of the Geopark represent a complex Earth history dating back as far as 650 million years ago. With evidence of mountain building and destruction; searing hot deserts and warm tropical oceans; and of icy wastelands and water-worn caverns, the rocks and landscapes of the Geopark are nothing short of amazing.
Navar Forest
Another local walk this time with James, Hannah and off course, Poppy. Today we tackled the steep Magho Cliff Walk and part of the Lough Navar Forest Park getting outstanding views of Lower Lough Erne and the Atlantic Ocean. A planned barbeque at the bottom carpark had to be abandoned as the same takeaway bbqs just didn’t generate enough heat! However, it was a great walk, in fine weather – what more could we ask for!!

Among the different touristic attractions which are found in county Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, Enniskillen Castle Museum comes on the list and this goes to the different things which are seen inside it from history. This castle is located within and around the historic Enniskillen Castle and was established back in 1976 by Fermanagh District Council.
There are different things to be seen inside this museum and which are all about the history, culture, and environment of Fermanagh – that is enough to give tourists and visitors the chance to know more about this part of Northern Ireland. One of the main goals of this place was to cover as many aspects of Fermanagh’s culture as possible and at the same time build something which will be informative enough to the future generations.
What you will get the chance to see and explore inside this museum is not all what this place tends to offer because there are those different exhibitions held in the museum that cover local as well as general interests and topics. There are different topics for the events held in this place which you might sometimes never guess; poetry and prose readings, storytelling, lectures, living history events, craft demonstrations, as well as those different types of family entertainment programmes that might be found out there.
The place itself is filled with information and things that one could see inside since it mainly covers the prehistory and natural history of Fermanagh, the county’s traditional rural life, local crafts and the celebrated pottery at Belleek. But it is not just about that, inside this place, there is also The Inniskillings Museum with its collection of uniforms, weapons, medals, and memorabilia that dates back to the 17th century; you will get to see lots of things inside the place in general and come out enjoying every single minute you have spent there.
To see all this history and culture combined in the same place in Enniskillen Castle Museum, you could visit it all the year from Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 5 PM and you could also make your trip to the place during the weekend on Saturday or Sunday but from 11 AM till 5 PM – they gave you all the possible choices to make your trip easier.
County Fermanagh is one of the six different counties that form Northern Ireland and in addition to the Enniskillen Castle Museum, there are other attractions to be found in Enniskillen, which is located in county Fermanagh, that one should visit.

Devenish Island
Devenish Island contains one of the finest monastic sites in Northern Ireland. A round tower thought to date from the twelfth century is situated on the island, as are the walls of the Oratory of Saint Molaise who established the monastery in the 6th century, on a pilgrim route to Croagh Patrick in County Mayo. It became a centre of scholarship and although raided by Vikings in 837 and burned in 1157, it later flourished as the site of the parish church and St Mary’s Augustinian Priory.
Monea Castle
Monea Castle is situated where a Maguire castle would have been based prior to the Plantation and a crannog is still visible. Built for Malcolm Hamilton and completed in 1618, it has a Scottish look about it, with corner turrets at one narrow end of a rectangular four-storey building and with two massive full-height round towers having angular tops guarding the entrance at the other end. This imposing structure stood in one corner of a walled bawn with rounded corner towers, one of which subsequently served as a dovecote. The castle fell briefly into Irish hands in 1641, and was held by Gustavus Hamilton, governor of Enniskillen in 1688. It appears to have been burned in the 18th century and was abandoned.

Castle Coole
Castle Coole is a late 18th century mansion situated in a 1200 acre estate on the outskirks of Enniskillen Co. Fermanagh and one of three properties owned and managed by the National Trust in Co. Fermanagh.
The estate includes numerous out-buildings and a service tunnel, the entrance which is accessed from the ‘Grand Yard’. Surrounded by stunning landscape, the estate is ideal for picnics, cycling and country walking.
