The Story of Molly Malone

( Selling fish during the day, prostitute by night )

In Dublin’s fair city,

Where the girls are so pretty,

I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone,

As she wheeled her wheel-barrow,

Through streets broad and narrow,

Crying, “Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!”

These must be some of the best known lyrics, heard in every Irish bar but who was Molly Malone and what is her story?

How to Choose the Right Dance for Your Wedding

How to Choose the Right Dance for Your Wedding – The type of Irish dance you choose for your wedding will depend on a few factors, including the number of guests you have, the size of your dance floor, and the overall tone you want to set for your reception. If you have a large number of guests and a spacious dance floor, a ceili dance would be a great option. This is a very social type of dance where people can move around and chat as they dance, making it ideal for mingling. If you want something a little more formal or if you’re looking to add some traditional flair to your wedding, a set dance would be perfect.

These dances are usually performed by couples or small groups, so they’re ideal for smaller weddings. And if you’re looking to get everyone up and moving, a solo step dance is always a great choice. No matter what type of Irish dance you choose, your guests are sure to love it!

Who built Lough Oughter Castle?

Who built Lough Oughter Castle? – Lough Oughter Castle, also known as Tully Castle, is a large tower house located on an island in Lough Oughter in County Cavan, Ireland. It was built sometime between 1220 and 1280 by the Maguire clan who were the ruling family of Fermanagh and surrounding area at the time.

The castle was built as a defensive stronghold and was strategically located on an island in the lake to provide further protection. It is one of the few surviving examples of Norman architecture in Ireland and has been cited by historians for its architectural significance.

IRISH FOOD YOU WILL LOVE:

What is your perfect Irish afternoon?

Ahhh, what a perfect Irish afternoon. A cup of strong tea in one hand and a freshly-baked scone with a dollop of Kerrygold butter in the other. The smell of turf smoke fills the air as it drifts from an open fire nearby. Ah, there’s nothing quite like an Irish afternoon to make you feel at home.

There’s nothing more comforting than being surrounded by family and friends, enjoying a few scones and strong tea as the winter chill fades away with the warmth of the turf fire. Friends share stories of old times, new adventures are discussed, and laughter echoes off the walls. It’s moments like these that make us feel connected, that remind us of the strong bonds between us.

An Irish afternoon is full of joy and laughter. It’s a time for relaxing, for appreciating the simple things in life. A cup of hot tea and a scone made with love can make all the difference to your day! This is how it’s done in Ireland, and why we love it so much.

So next time you find yourself with a few hours to spare, gather your friends and family around a turf fire, make some strong tea and scones, and enjoy the simple pleasures of an Irish afternoon!
